Stotes

The following roster will be racing at Stotes. There is no novice 2x, 1x or JV1x. Additionally we can only enter one boat in each event so, though we tried, we couldn't enter our girls novice double in the JV event because it is already filled with upper classpeople, though we thought they deserved a race.

Gold Cup Clinic

This year the Dad Vail is hosting The Philadelphia Challenge Cup, which will feature four of the top men and women single scullers in the world. As part of this special event, the DV also will host the inaugural 2011 Gold Cup Clinic. Each Olympic oarsman/woman will give a clinic about their training methods, technique, race strategy, etc. geared toward high school and college oarsman and coaches as well as any other interested party. The clinic, free to all who preregister, will take place on Thursday, May 12 in Dad Vail-sponsored tents on Kelly Drive along the race course. There will be a well-marked sign-in area for the attendees. For more information or to register your athletes, visit http://www.dadvail.org/Clinic .

The Dad Vail is also looking for volunteer river marshals.

RIVER MARSHALL CREW
Position Description
Coaches from Boathouse Row in Philadelphia are requested to help direct river traffic from launches on the water Thursday, May 12, 2011. This is an important task to ensure the safety of all rowers on the river that day. With 3000 participants in the 73rd Annual Dad Vail Regatta it will be very helpful to have area coaches directing crews when necessary from the water.

Garden States/Cooper Cup

13 top 3 finishes and 29 medals collected in two days at the Garden State Championships and Cooper Cup. Two days of tough racing brought lots of hardware to Haddon Township Athletes. 5 boats were crowned NJ State Champions and have officially qualified for the Scholastic National Regatta:
  • Girls lt 2x (Juliette/Kate)
  • JV Girls 2x (Salena/Sara)
  • JV Girls 4x (Emily D./Mandy/Nicole/Cassidy)
  • Varsity Girls 4x (Tori/Catie/Emily/Julie)
  • JV Boys 4x (Ryan/Jim/Nick/Alec)
Two additional boats medaled at this regatta:
  • Varsity 1x: Matt Glace
  • JV Boys 2x: Nelson/Alex
Erik Duffy raced a heroic race as a novice in a Varsity race finishing fourth by a whisker, a tremendous accomplishment.

Today's Cooper Cup brought tougher racing but HT crews were still able to grasp medals in three boat categories:
  • Women's Novice 2x (Maddie/Kassidy)
  • JV Girls 4x (Listed above)
  • Varsity Girls (Listed above)
All in all, it was a tremendous weekend for the Hawks!
