HOSR results and late fall practice info

Congratulations to all on a very successful Head of the Schuylkill Regatta!

Some notable performances include the Men's HS 4x's second place finish. Ryan C., Erick M., Nick H., and Nelson R.sustained a high rating throughout the race, finishing in a time of 13:32.52. Katie E. and Emily D. continued their success in the Woman's HS Under 19 2x with a 2nd place finish. The girls battled down the entire course, finishing less the 1 second ahead of 3rd place boat.

These strong finishes provide great momentum as the team heads into the winter months and begins to focus on the Championship races in the spring.

Moving forward the ALL athletes will practice from 4-6pm. Novices will need to be at practice M-F this week. Some athletes may be asked to row on Saturday morning to ensure that everyone is prepared for the upcoming races.

Varsity and JV athletes will be rowing with the novices this week as we get everybody caught up to speed. Half of the team will be practicing on land each day so please bring running shoes, and lots of layers. Practice may be slightly shorter and the sunlight dwindles.

The Line ups for Braxton and Frostbite will be posted at the end of this week. The tentative schedules can be found online at the regatta websites. HT will have boats in the HS 2x and HS 4x events.

Congratulations to all who competed in Boston this weekend. Haddon Township finished respectably against one of the toughest HOCR Youth 2x fields in recent years.

Moving forward we are gearing up for the Head of the Schuylkill in Philly this weekend. Practice will be from 4pm - 6pm for ALL rowers for the rest of the season.

Practice will be in Philly on Friday 10/28/2011 immediately after school (approx 3pm) and will be finished by 5pm.

Racing Line ups will be posted by Thursday of this week. Athletes must arrive 90 mins prior to their event. The schedule can be found online at the HOSR website.

Finally, as the weather gets colder rowers are expected to bring appropriate cold weather gear to practice each day. If you are not prepared for the elements you and your boat mates will not be on the water.

Practice Schedule October 10th - October 30th

Parents and Rowers,

Congratulations to all on a successful first regatta of the Fall season. HT crews had several notable finishes including an impressive win by Katie Ely and Emily Donavon in the Jr. Girls 2x. The Navy Day results are a strong foundation for which to jump into the racing season. Keep up the good work.

Now back to business, due to regulations of the Camden County Boathouse we will have to split practice into two sessions. I have made an attempt to alternate rowers between the early and late practice times and to take into consideration any standing conflicts that I am aware of. PLEASE EMAIL ME IMMEDIATELY IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD CANNOT MAKE THE SHIFT HE/SHE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED!  The best place to reach me is haddoncrew@gmail.com.
