Another strong finish for the Hawks in the fifth and final Flick!

Congratulations to all of today's rowers for completing one of our most successful days on the river despite miserable conditions!!

The novice girls have continued to impress the coaches on a daily basis with their remarkable development in such a short period of time.  Mariana Catrambone is becoming an able veteran of the single, one of the most difficult events in the sport, and is gaining time on her competitors with each passing week.  Noa Boonin, Olivia Basso, Elizabeth Reece, and Lauren Kairys have again impressed the coaches with their performance this weekend, finishing 4th in the novice quad.  Keep up the good work girls!

The novice boys have also given the coaches reason to look forward to a successful future for the club.  Tyler Kao, Noah Haney, Ryan Springer, and Joel Egbert have begun to find their speed in the past few weeks, putting in an impressive third place finish in the freshman quad.  In one of the more exciting finishes of the day Keaton Schneider and Luke Evans put together their best piece of the season to finish third in a very fast freshman double race.  In an unfortunate turn of events, Dan Woods recently broke his wrist and will be unable to race for a while.  Even with this bad news, Dan has been one of the most valuable members of the team, helping out wherever he can and always putting the team first.  We can't wait to have you back, Dan, and we look forward to see how the rest of the season pans out for the boys!

In the varsity events, Maddie Remetz and Salena Silvaria posted the third and fourth fasted times overall in the JV single, with Salena placing first in her flight!  Due to the high number of entries this week, Emily Donovan and Cassidy Leyendecker were forced to take a break from the traditional racing format.  Without the added motivation of having crews racing on either side of them, the girls placed second out of thirteen entries in the head race style JV double event, only .87 seconds away from first! In another exciting race, Katie Ely, Sara Rosenberg, Kate Watson, and Juliette Daily bested rival Conestoga to finish first overall in the lightweight quad!  Also, we would like to wish Nicole DiTommaso a speedy recovery after having her wisdom teeth pulled last week.  Get well soon, we can't wait to have you back!

Not to be outdone by the girls, the Varsity boys also raced to two impressive finishes today.  In the JV quad, Alex Blue, Eric Duffy, Evan Taylor, and Alec Rogers made massive improvements throughout the week after only rowing together for a few days and finished eighth overall in the head race format.  Ryan Clark and Nelson Remetz took a break from the lightweight double to join forces with Nick Herceg and Jim Howley in the Varsity quad where they finished just behind St. Joe's Prep for second place in their flight.  Great job guys!

Join us next weekend on our home course as the Hawks race for the Garden State Scholastic Championship and Cooper Cup on Saturday and Sunday.

Go Hawks!

Spring Break Training Camp 2012

Practice will be held from 12-2pm and from 3-5pm. Rowers will a have a 1 hour break during which we will watch video, eat lunch, and generally relax.

The forecast is calling for temperatures in the low 60s with a chance of showers during the middle of the week. Below is a list of things that you should bring each day. We will spend our lunch time on the grass near the boathouse, so blankets are suggested for lying on the grass.

Spring Break Checklist
1. TWO full water bottles
2. Complete Change of clothes (including socks!)
3. Running Shoes
4. Rain gear
5. Sunscreen/Sun glasses
6. Healthy Lunch/Snacks
7. Books or Homework for break time
8. Blanket/Towel

This is the most important week of the season. We will put in lots of hard work, technical development, video review and a little bit of fun too...

Parents, please contact Coach Annie or Coach Francis with any questions or concerns.

Manny Flick Results - Hawks are poised for Spring Bling.....

Congratulations in making it through the first three Flicks!

We are off to a good start and have lots of potential for strong finishes in the upcoming medal races.

A few notable performances: (Please forgive any miss spellings of names!)

Maddie Remetz and Eric Duffy tore it up in the JV 1xs, finishing 1st and 2nd in their respective heats at Manny Flick #1. Alex Blue carried on the tradition with a 2nd place finish in the JV1x in Manny Flick # 3.

Evan Taylor jumped into the spring season after his staring performance in the Winter Musical. His 3rd place finish in the JV1x during Manny Flick#3 is a perfect example of his fantastic technique and attitude!

Emily Donavan, Nicole DiTomaso, Selena Silvara, and Cassidy Lyendecker have started out the season with a back and forth battle with Conastoga in the JV4X. A second place finish at Flick #3 closed the gap between our rivals to a single second. Watch out Stoga - here we come!

Katie Ely, Sara Rosenberg, Kate Watson, and Juliette Daily took a 2nd place finish in the LWT 4x for the second week in a row. The Light 4x is a very competitive event and we are excited to have had such strong early season performances in this new line up. Keep up the good work ladies!

It is a competitive year for the JV Men's 4xs, and HT boys are right in the thick of it. Eric Duffy, Jim Howley, Nick Herztag and Alec Rogers finished 5th in a fast heat in Manny Flick #3. Alex Blue stroked the same line up in Manny Flick #1 for a 3rd place finish. HT will be picking up speed with some small boat work in the weeks to come.

Ryan Clark and Nelson Remetz continue to show strong performances in the LWT 2x. A close race during Manny Flick#3 yielded a 3rd place finish. There promises to be many more exciting finishes for the LWT boys in the coming weeks!

Both the Men's and Woman's novice teams have been doing a great job jumping into the racing season. In Manny Flick #3 Marianna Catrambone and Luke Evens finished in 5th and 4th respectively in the Novice 1x category. Very impressive considering they only got a couple of days of practice in the gigs!

Lauren Kairys, Elizabeth Reece, Noa Boonin and Oliva Basso had an incredible improvement between Manny Flick #1 and Manny Flick#3. Shaving almost two minutes from their time they steered a great course and finished 4th in a close race.

Keaton Schneider and Tyler Kao stepped up to the plate for the novice boys 2x - finishing 3rd despite never having rowed their line up prior to race day. Good work boys!

In Manny Flick#3 Noah Haney, Ryan Springer, Joel Egbert, and Dan Wood finished 4th in a fast heat of Novice boys 4xs. Their time is the 5th fastest out of all the heats raced - a good sign as we head into the Champ races.

A special shout out to Joel Egbert, Ryan Springer, Noa Boonin, and Marianna Catrambone for a VERY impressive first couple of weeks on the water. Keep up to good work.

Spring Break schedules will be posted shortly. Stay tuned!
